Style Round-up: Favorite Celebrity Looks this Eid-ul-Adha 2021!

It’s been a festive three days, sartorially speaking. Even with the coronavirus still running lose, the spirit of this year’s Eid-uk-Adha didn’t quite get quelled. A constant parade of festive-wear has been floating out on social media, often against backdrops of florals, fairy lights and Pakistan’s scenic mountainscapes.

Eid-wear is never very trendy – not many want to make avant-garde edgy statements on an occasion dedicated to time with family and close friends – but it is invariably very pretty and usually follows classic traditional silhouettes. As a result, the dupattas have been fluttering out with great gusto on Instagram feeds, as have the bangles, ethnic earrings and multicolored khussas.

Looking back at the past three days, here are some of the celebrity Eid posts that have featured some very pretty clothes – usually against gorgeous backdrops!

Sonya Hussyn in Jazib Qamar

Sonya Hussyn has a great, natural knack for style and she was probably the only Pakistani actress on the ‘gram to step away from the usual ethnic wear to make a fun, no frills Eid statement. Loved the smart, straight lines of her kurta shalwar, the pops of color added with the sleeves, the braids tied up with bright red parandas and the  shiny brogues.

What fun … because Eid doesn’t always have to be about the flowing, pastel-colored three-piece suit! You can always take a turn towards the edgy – especially if you can carry it off with flair, like Sonya Hussyn.

Also, it’s good to see Jazib Qamar surfacing on to the spotlight now and again. He’s an uber-cool designer with a signature of his very own and I wish that he would push forward more of his designs, more frequently.

Aymen Saleem in Rizwan Beyg

This one was my favorite: Aymen Saleem in an all-white classic Rizwan Beyg creation, set off with ethnic silver jhumkas and open hair. Rizwan’s all-whites are perennial favorites in the local fashion circuit: worked with paisleys, trellises and borders in dainty thread-work and so timeless that you could wear them again and again.

Aymen, also, has emerged as quite the style star, knowing precisely what looks work for her and totally rocking her Eid outfit.

Mansha Pasha in Farah Talib Aziz

Also making a statement in all-white was Mansha Pasha, dressed in a design by Farah Talib Aziz that seemed to be just right for a desi summer fete. Worked with dainty little rose beds on an ivory palette, the long shirt was paired with a matching dhaka pajama in crushed silk. I also love how Mansha kept her hair up and opted for minimal jewelry. It’s simple, no fuss and so, so pretty!

Amar Khan in Farah Talib Aziz

Farah Talib Aziz’s pretty little embroidered rosebuds also surfaced on the ivory peshwas worn by Amar Khan and the color palette, mix of silk and ogranza and flowing silhouette is very festive. Amar whirling about makes it quite the perfect Eid Insta-post!

Maya Ali in Maya Pret

Maya Ali totally knows how to stand out which is probably why she’s never going to need anyone to model for her fledgling eponymous label, Maya Pret – no one could do it better than she, herself. This all-green sharara exemplifies that Eid can move beyond generic pastel colors and I loved how Maya paired it with flashy jhumkas.

Saba Qamar in Hussain Rehar

A Hussain Rehar outfit is invariably distinctive. The yellow canvas, the heavy duty floral clusters, the ethnic buttons down the neckline and those khussas setting off the whole look – this was definitely my favorite look for Saba Qamar this Eid!

Sadaf Kanwal in Shamsha Hashwani

Sadaf Kanwal oozed glam in a svelte Shamsha Hashwani design in a deep blue, with minimal embroidery and scallops on the hem, set off by a silk shawl with a multicolored procession forming the border. Sadaf kept her makeup minimal and let her hair open. Gorgeous – and such a relief from the usual slew of pastels on my social media timeline.

Sheheryar Munawar in Mohsin Naveed Ranjha

Sheheryar Munawar has to be one of the savviest actors on Pakistani Instagram and his Eid ‘photo dump’ oozes style. Wearing a formal kurta pajama set by Mohsin Naveed Ranjha, Sheheryar stood on a terrace somewhere up on the mountains, rooftops peeping out from below him and a cloudy sky in the background!

A great wardrobe and a mountain holiday on Eid – Sheheryar just epitomized the perfect Eid!
